It’s been a minute since Miss Nthabi dropped some new stuff. Hell, we actually thought she had hung her mic up and left the game entirely.
But then out of nowhere, the Breathe rapper announced her upcoming mixtape in a short clip posted on social media.
“This is not a game to me,” Miss Nthabi says of her music in the clip. “I don’t view it as a game. This is my gift, this is something that is in my blood. This is a blessing to me.”
The mixtape, Broken Silence, is the first large-scale release since her 2010 project, Welcome To Me, which had guest spots from poet Lebo Mashile and Afrosoul singer MXO.

Broken Silence promises to explore the different sides of Miss Nthabi — her being a mother, her being an artist and her being a human being.
“I think we tend to forget that the people [and voices] behind the music are people…I hope my music tells its story.”
“[The mixtape is] intended to do exactly what the name says…Break my silence. I pray the music touches those that need it most,” she said.
Miss Nthabi’s upcoming mixtape, Broken Silence, is expected to drop 30 May. Watch the promo trailer for the project below:
