AKA is showing no signs of pressing the breaks — it’s officially Touch My Blood season.
He’s said high to 30 and been focused and Sweet Fire shows it. It’s a song about love and loss.
“When you lose someone you love, you have to take the time to grieve,” he said in a Tweet promoting the song.
The ballad, which could be about his storied relationship and break-ups with Bonang and DJ Zinhle (could actually be about anything), kind of serves as a ‘sequal’ to his 2017 joint Caiphus Song on account of them having the same synth-heavy, 80s feel — a sound AKA’s been trying to perfect for a while.
But, it’s clear that 80s sound is a catharsis for AKA, and Sweet Fire is proof.
“Music helps.. [Sweet Fire] is dedicated to the memory and music of Ray Phiri, Stimela, and all those who have loved and lost,” he added in the Tweet.
Only issue — Sweet Fire is an iTunes exclusive for now. So if you don’t got the Apple plug you might have to wait for the wide release. But for now you can listen to a snippet of Sweet Fire below:
