J.S.K XXVI talks about his new music video for ‘Coconut Trees’

J.S.K XXVI

And the wait is over. The King of Volksrust, better known as J.S.K XXVI, has finally dropped visuals for his earworm, Coconut Trees.

Coconut Trees, J.S.K’s first single of 2018, sees the rapper returning from the interstellar trip he took on his 2017 EP Extragalactic and its sequel, Extragalactic 2: Yugen Wavand landing back in his hood, full of existential questions.

Coconut Trees throw better shade than shady promoters and rappers. I exclaim that it could never be me throwing the shade. So the song is practically about how the inside of a human could differ from what they show you. The pretence, fake love and or shade thrown. Pay attention to the dark side,” he tells Dope Nation ZA about the meaning behind the song.

While the video itself, which he directed, doesn’t necesarily play to this concept, it does have a whole bunch of symbolism.

“I just wanted to showcase different lifestyles in the hood,” J.S.K says. “There’s a symbolism of things appearance in twos…Darkness & Light or the Twin Flame…two Doves, two Sparrow’s, two ladies [from Engine who support], two kids who happened to be viby, two Audi’s. It symbolises hustle. The work I’ve put in and the goals…Also, the two dogs having fun,” he explains.
